Job Description
About us: St James’s Hospital is Ireland’s largest acute academic teaching hospital and is based in Dublin’s south inner city. Our fundamental purpose is the delivery of health treatment, care and diagnosis as well as health promotion and preventative services at local, regional and national levels. Our academic partner is Trinity College Dublin.
Purpose of the role: The Data Manager will provide a comprehensive data management service to the National Burns Unit, ensuring that clinical, operational and administrative data (in-patient and out-patient) are accurate, current, complete, secure and fit for purpose, and are collected, validated, analysed and reported to support patient care, service delivery, statutory and national reporting, service evaluation and future planning.
The post holder is a hands-on data practitioner and first-line manager: they own the quality and timeliness of defined Burns data flows and reporting products, not the hospital's overall data strategy or its legal position as data controller. As this is a new role within a new National Burns Centre, it will evolve in line with service needs, with significant opportunity to shape data governance, reporting frameworks and performance measurement for Burns services.
